Informationen für alle Beschäftigten der KHM in der aktuellen Corona/COVID-19 Krise

Corona-Virus / COVID19: as of August 20th 2021

The summer semester 2021 will be a flexible hybrid semester. As a university in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, we have to comply with the Corona Protection Ordinance NRW, the General Ordinance for Universities, which has been available since 31 of March, as well as the regional General Ordinance of the City of Cologne. Since these ordinances are constantly being adapted to the pandemic situation, we will have to continue to drive on sight. Nevertheless, we are endeavouring - as far as the pandemic situation allows - to gradually reduce the necessary restrictions at the KHM. However, the protection of the health of students, teachers and staff must always come first in all considerations.

Protected operation: The KHM is in a protected operation. It is secured by hygiene plans that are continuously updated to the applicable federal and state regulations.

Medical masks (OP-Mask) must be worn everywhere at the KHM.

Access for students to workshops, laboratories and technical rooms: from August 20, 2021
Student access is now through the 3Gs: Vaccinated, Convalescent, or Tested.
  1. Vaccinated: fully vaccinated with an EU approved vaccine (Astra Zeneca, Moderna, Pfizer/Biontech, Johnson&Johnson).
  2. Convalescent: Recovery certificate e.g. through a legally recognized electronic system such as the Corona warning app or CovPassAPP.
  3. Tested: negative rapid test from a "citizen testing" center that is no more than 48 hours old. Please email to:

Fully vaccinated or recovered individuals do not need to test. For now, access will continue to be through the gate with pre-registration with the room supervisors. The gate is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 11:00pm.

Access to workplaces in the technical rooms and to the teachers' studios will continue to take place according to the following prioritisation:

1) Diploma students: Students who are in the process of completing their diploma and/or who have to register.

2) Pre-diploma students who have already registered for their pre-diploma.

3) All other projects, in order to enable a continuous course of study and to avoid a prolongation of studies.

Since the accumulation of people in the relevant buildings is to be avoided and the risk of infection for students and staff, these restrictions and priorisations are particularly important.

All workplaces can only be booked and coordinated in consultation with the person responsible for the room.


A simple hygiene concept must be developed for the implementation of the projects. This is done in close coordination and consultation with the staff of the project and corona office. For larger teams, a hygiene officer should be instructed through training.

  • Incidences do not play a role at this time. 
  • The 3G rule (Vaccinated, Convalescent or Tested) applies to collaborative work in projects.

Standard period of study:

The standard period of study for students will be increased by two semesters for all students enrolled in

the winter semester 2020/21. For students who were already enrolled or admitted in the summer

semester 2020 the standard period of study will be increased by three semesters.

I feel sick! What do I do?
Make sure to call your general practitioner and stay at home. Your doctor will advise you on how to proceed. Advice is also available on the medical on-call service (Tel. 116 117) or at the Cologne Health Department / Gesundheitsamt (Neumarkt 15 -21, 50667 Cologne, Tel. 0221/221 -33500)
Anyone who is ill should, as a precautionary measure, remain incapable of working at home while any possible infection is being investigated; this is possible for up to three days without presenting a certificate of incapacity for work.

Corona positive: How do I report a corona infection?
All persons (including guests, lecturers or visitors) who are acutely ill are prohibited from entering. This also applies if a positive corona finding is made up to two weeks after a personal appointment or a presence at the KHM. All are also requested to inform the KHM immediately via their central information point (, to name the contact persons within the probable incubation period and, in the confirmed case, to always report to the health department of the City of Cologne.
Students are requested to send this information to the respective lecturer or examiner.
Employees in teaching and administration also inform their direct supervisors and the HR department ( Employees whose health is in a position to do so have to work from home during this time. The supervisor ensures that work from home is made possible, as far as the official tasks permit.
In the case of people who have been or are still in 'close contact' (Category I according to RKI) with one or more people suffering from SARS-CoV-2, the KHM will also be banned from the premises for the duration of the close contact and 14 days after that pronounced.

Officially ordered quarantine
In the event of an officially ordered quarantine, teachers and employees must report this to the KHM's central information point ( and the Human Resources department ( in order to give the KHM the opportunity to assert claims for compensation in accordance with the Infection Protection Act.

Informationen für die Mitarbeiter*innen der KHM  während der Corona-Krise

Sonderregelung zu Arbeitszeiten und Zeiterfassung:

- Die Verpflichtung zur individuellen Zeiterfassung an den Terminals ist ab morgen, 18.3.2020, bis auf weiteres für jede/en Mitarbeiter/innen ausgesetzt. Das ZEUS wird bis auf weiteres nicht mehr bedient.
- Die KHM sichert zu, dass die individuellen Zeitguthaben bis zum Stand am 18.03.2020, 8:00 Uhr dokumentiert werden. Wer für sich selbst den Stand festhalten will, mag dies (über einen Ausdruck oder Screenshot) tun. Sollten sich später Diskrepanzen zwischen dem von Ihnen dokumentierten und dem in ZEUS vermerkten Zeitguthaben zeigen, gilt das Günstigkeitsprinzip.
- Es besteht für jeden die Möglichkeit, die individuellen Arbeitszeiten während der Krisensituationen im mobilen Arbeiten/Home-Office zu erfassen. Jede/r wird bei Bedarf hierfür sicher ein vernünftiges Format finden.

Technische Rahmenbedingungen für mobiles Arbeiten:

Rechner aus der KHM werden aus Gründen der Datensicherheit nicht nach Hause mitgenommen.
Es können also nur dienstliche Laptops zuhause genutzt werden, so derzeit verfügbar und nach Absprache mit Führungskräften. Zudem kann jeder zur Aufrechterhaltung der Arbeitsfähigkeit außerhalb der Hochschule seinen privaten Rechner zuhause nutzen und damit ohne weiteres: 
- über das Web auf die dienstlichen Mailpostfächer zugreifen
- in der Nextcloud (KHM-Wolke,): eigene Dokumente ablegen, Aufgaben über die Anwendung "Deck" organisieren und erledigen, über die Anwendung "Talk" sog. Unterhaltungen mit bestimmten Benutzer*innen(-Gruppen) anlegen und mit diesen eine Chatmöglichkeit eröffnen (bis zu 4 Teilnehmer*innen können zudem Telefon-  bzw. Videokonferenzen durchführen)
- über die Homepage der KHM auf das INTRAnet / Service-Bereich zugreifen
- über die Bibliothektsseiten die digitale Angebote nutzen:
