Kutxi-Bungo und das Verhältnis zum Motiv

The line between the relation of an artist with his subject and of a worker in service of the reproduction of one single image is hard to draw in this particular case. Augusto Kutxi-Bungo paints the Cologne Cathedral since 2016. More than 4.000 pictures have been painted and sold. More than 4.000 times his hands and his mind have worked on producing this one single image with variations. The film shows the creation of an image in a place of constant dissonance a struggle. The manual reproduction in the times of late capitalism and after the technical reproduction has reached its highest peak. A reflection on power, on symbols, on the demand of particular images and on the individual act versus the collective mind. Shot in 16mm.
