Observational Practices and the Everyday konzipiert wurden (u. a.  mit Aatish Bhatia, Meghan O’Hara/ James Merle Thomas, Martha Rosler und Pacho Velez) und  im Dezember an der Parsons, The New School, in New York stattfand.

'The symposium Situating the Everyday. Interdisciplinary Inquiries into the Quotidian' is scheduled for February 2017 at the Laboratory of Art and Research at the University of Cologne. The symposium is planned as a second part of 'Talking about Seeing. Observational Practices and the Everyday', a panel discussion and symposium which took place at Parsons, The New School, in December with contributions by Aatish Bhatia, Meghan O’Hara & James Merle Thomas, Martha Rosler und Pacho Velez among others. (http://www.observationalpractices.org).

In connection with these events––and as a final conference of the project „Mass Observation 2.0 – Research Into the Everyday“ (http://laborfuerkunstundforschung.de), which continued over a period of three semesters––we will bring together a cross-disciplinary group of artists, researchers, and students, to discuss their methods and approaches to investigate our relation to the everyday:   What are the effects of a transformed and reconditioned media on the daily life, routines, and perceptions? How is everyday life perceived in a globalized world and how are the ubiquitous requirements of social media to permanently perform oneself, and to meet the demands of connectedness, affecting our sensibilities on a everyday level?  What is the urban and private landscape made of in the digital age––online and offline? In what way is the understanding of democracy influenced by new forms of media and their offers to participate within a new global framework? And which theoretical, artistic-practical, analytical, investigative, critical, and experimental tools are available to react to this circumstances?
