Abyssos

The video installation “Abyssos” recreates a kind of virtual sea, which exists in the memory and perception of the artist. The underwater video and sound recordings used in the work were taken over the last two years around the island where he lives in Croatia. The original underwater footage was combined with the images and sounds that have been manipulated through digital processing technology. The video sequences that are presented on separate screens, depict the broad and many-sided “communication” with the sea. The sequences are in a way the perceptual building blocks, which were put together under the principle of free visual and sensual associations.
