""Maybe We Won't Make It"" was created amidst the struggle of the artist to process her struggle with sexual abuse. Garcia finds herself in her hometown practicing her sport of choice: weightlifting. Very often described as a ""manly sport"", the weightlifting training hall is not a place filled of testosteron loaded men, but a space where all athletes could allow themselves to leave their guard down and during training ask themselves: ""what if we don't make it?"". What If I we fail our next attempt? What If we don't make it to the next bus? What if I don't make it home tonight? What if I don't make it to nationals? What if I fail my next exam? What if all we've dreamt for never comes to life? In a place where these athletes are to show great features of strength, what they show is something different: an unmasked vulnerability facing the uncertainty of the future and the shadow of the past. The cluster of photographs is accompanied by the voice of several different Peruvian woman who tell us in a mix of English and Spanish the thoughts of the artist. The poem ends: ""Maybe we can lift this once again Or maybe we won't make it In this sea of lies Amongst this rotten hearts""
