A woman sits down next to a man in a living room and says nothing. It’s the end. At the same time, it’s the beginning of a transformation in the logic of things, dissolving into a physical experience of light, sound and movement. In this place, you are what you do. Your present is built on your past and you can’t go back and rectify it. There is moral weight in what you are currently doing and therefore leaving behind. Perhaps you can live in a way that means you don’t have to worry about that. Maybe that just happens. The turning point is the day when things or the remembrance of things changes unexpectedly and you become aware of what you are and what you have done. The trigger may be something insignificant like a broken cup lying on the floor, but it could be enough to make you regret your whole life and lose control completely. This is the moment when you are unable to go on as you were, living as you did, and the only solution is a radical one. This is the moment of breakdown. The film is concentrated at this very point.
