Prof. Mischa Kuball

Mischa Kuball, born in Düsseldorf in 1959, has worked with slide projections since 1980 and increasingly in institutional and urban space since 1987.
He realised the temporary project “Megazeichen” on the Mannesmann high-rise in Düsseldorf in 1990 and a radical intervention at Synagogue Stommeln with the “refraction house” project in 1994.
He represented Germany at the 24th Sao Paulo Art Biennial in 1998 with “private light / public light”.
He has worked with the Ruhr-University Bochum on a long-term project on the representation of language activities in the human brain (“Broca’sche Areal” project, Konrad Fischer Galerie, Düsseldorf and Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Siegen 1999/2002) in collaboration with the Neurosurgical Clinic in Krefeld and the neuropsychological faculty of the Ruhr-University Bochum since 2000.
He taught media art at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design/ZKM from 2004 to 2007 and has been a member of the artistic advisory board of the Centre for International Light Art in Unna since 2003.
Professor of media art at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, where he founded MinusEins experimental lab with students from the academy, since 2007.
He currently lives with his family in Düsseldorf.
