Seminar description

Join us to the Impakt Festival 2022 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, taking place from 2 - 6 November 2022. Up to ten people can join.

At the centre of the IMPAKT Festival 2022 stands a proposition: The most Dissatisfying technology of all is the one that works. We all know the feeling of dissatisfaction with technology that underperforms, behaves unpredictably or breaks down completely.

IMPAKT Festival invites its audience to embark on a train of thought that travels in the opposite direction: could it be that technology reveals itself at its most dissatisfactory precisely when it operates well or even exceeds expectations? The idea that technology can provide ultimate satisfaction and at the same time be utterly dissatisfying is baffling and paradoxical. Since art is uniquely able to deal with such contradiction,

IMPAKT Festival 2022 places art centre stage, with installations, films, performances by Danica Dakić, Μarta Dauliūtė & Viktorija Šiaulytė, Anita Di Bianco, Zachary Formwalt, Sasha Litvintseva & Beny Wagner, Alaa Mansour and Todd McGowan & Ryan Engley of the philosophy podcast Why Theory. These events are the core of a programme of discussion and debate. IMPAKT Festival 2022: The Curse of Smooth Operations, Curated by Florian Wüst and Erik Bunger For more information: www.impakt.nl
