The library's discovery system replaces the library catalog. There you will find all books and media in the library. The “Everything” search also finds licensed digital content and open access publications.
Loan & return
All members of the KHM can borrow up to thirty books and films for four weeks. You need a KHM access card to borrow. The media in the Overstolzenhaus are freely accessible. Some books and films are kept in the library store at Peter-Welter-Platz 2. They can be picked up on request and ready to be borrowed the next day. Please return borrowed media in due time so that other members of the KHM can also use them. A return box is available in the library foyer for returning the media.

TV Recordings
TV recordings
are retrieved from the stacks upon request and made available the following day. They can be viewed at the viewing places in the library.

Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary loan
Books and journal articles that are not in the library/media library collection but are needed for scholarly work can be ordered from another library via interlibrary loan.
Before placing your order, please check that the title is not available in the KHM library or in another library in Cologne:
