Patrick Orth

Patrick Orth studied visual communication at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Since the early 2000s, he has been making a name for himself in outstanding films by important directors of German cinema.

For Ulrich Köhler he filmed the Berlinale competition entry "Bungalow" (2002), "Montag kommen die Fenster" (2005), "Schlafkrankheit" (2011, Berlinale Silver Bear), "In My Room" (2018), which screened at Cannes, and "Das freiwillige Jahr" (2019), which Köhler realized together with Henner Winckler and which premiered at the Locarno Festival.

He shot "Sommer 04" (2006) for Stefan Krohmer, was involved in the compilation film "Deutschland 09" (2009), was behind the camera for Thomas Arslan in the Berlinale film "Gold" (2013), for video artist Omer Fast in "Continuity" (2015) and for Maren Ade in the multiple award-winning Cannes entry "Toni Erdmann" (2016).

Orth shot Michael Klier's "Idiots of the Family" (2018) and Haifaa Al Mansour's Venice feature "The Perfect Candidate" (2019).

In addition, Patrick Orth also photographed several television films, including "Mitte 30" (2007), "Dutschke" (2009) or the Grimme Award-nominated "Gefangen" by Elke Hauck (2022).
