In this two-semester practical film seminar, we explore the portrayal of any form of work in documentary film. The aim is to develop a short film on the theme of work over the course of two semesters and to produce it in small teams.
Questions relating to documentary practice accompany the process: How do I gain access to a person, a place, or a subject? How do I research and write about my topic? How do the aesthetic and content-related decisions relevant to film language come about? What responsibility do I bear towards my protagonists? In its exploration of documentary practice, the seminar supports the research, pre-production, shooting and editing processes of the films being created, from concept to completion.
Alongside numerous cinematic examples, filmmakers, cinematographers and editors shed light on the creative process of a film on the theme of work from various perspectives.
The seminar is supported by Christian Becker for editing and other guests.
The seminar is aimed at anyone who would like to make a film on the subject of work.
