Seminar description

The photography seminar will focus on two aspects: The preparation of a group exhibition taking place in November 2022 in Paris, and the realization of four solo exhibitions at the project and exhibition space CASE during the summer semester. Students are invited to understand photography as a documentary, fictional, media-reflexive practice: to amalgamate photography and moving image, 3D space, or sculpture; to combine photography and text, or to understand photography as action in networks. The group exhibition is part of the exhibition series "La jeune photographie allemande" and will be shown at Goethe-Institut during PARIS PHOTO. Curated by Ami Beckmann, the exhibition will thematically explore the ecological crisis. An excursion to Paris is planned with the exhibiting students. The four CASE exhibitions, however, will not have a predefined theme. During the semester, the seminar will be complemented by various inputs and lectures on the ecological crisis. Office hours: For office hours, please contact Alex Grein or Beate Gütschow by e-mail.
