The festival is a river

Die dokumentarfilmwoche hamburg versteht sich als Forum für den formal und inhaltlich anspruchsvollen Dokumentarfilm. Für Filme, die mit ihrem kritischen Ansatz künstlerische Formen finden, die den Möglichkeitsraum des Dokumentarischen ästhetisch und politisch ausloten. Gezeigt wird eine große Bandbreite an Produktionen, die von experimentellen, ohne Senderbeteiligung und Fördermittel erstellten Dokumentarfilmen bis hin zu herausragenden internationalen Koproduktionen reicht.

 Ergänzt wird das regionalen, deutsche und internationale Filmprogramm durch eine jährlich stattfindende Retrospektive, sowie die diskursive Veranstaltungsreihe ›Positionen‹.

Da neben dem Zeigen von Dokumentarfilmen das Sprechen darüber wichtig ist, werden zu jeder Veranstaltung die Filmemacher*innen eingeladen. Das Festival wird seit der ersten Ausgabe 2004 kollektiv organisiert.

Die Exkursion lädt an mehreren Tagen zum gemeinsamen Filme sichten, diskutieren und reflektieren ein. Wir werden als Gruppe anreisen und dort untergebracht. 

Teil der Exkursion ist auch ein Vor- und Nachtreffen.

Gemeinsame Reisekosten, Übernachtung und Akkreditierung werden vom Seminar übernommen.

The dokumentarfilmwoche hamburg sees itself as a forum for formally challenging, thought-provoking and demanding documentary films. For films that, through their critical approach, do not only strive to clarify subject matters, but also question inscribed codes and explore the aesthetic and political possibilities of the documentary form. The festival shows a broad spectrum of productions, ranging from experimental documentaries made without broadcasters’ participation and funding to outstanding international co-productions. The program provides an insight into the diverse works of the regional, national and international scene and their expression in the festival landscape.

Part of the excursion is also a pre- and post-meeting.
