Corinna J. Duschl – Durch Dornen // Through Thorns

Wir kriechen durch Dornenbögen in das Dickicht. Dort sitzen wir und werden von Pflanzen gesäugt. Um uns herum entspinnen sich Geschichten – vorsichtig ergreifen wir die Stränge, um nicht gestochen zu werden. Daraus flechten wir ein neues Gewebe, dem wir nur als Hase entkommen können.

In ihrer Ausstellung Durch Dornen // Through Thorns streift Corinna J. Duschl durch das Gestrüpp misogyn geprägter Narrative über Milchhexen, entwirrt ihre historischen Verflechtungen und knüpft in einer Video- und Keramikinstallation aus Bruchstücken neue Erzählstränge.

Corinna J. Duschl  lebt und arbeitet in Köln. Ihre Praxis verbindet medienbasierte und umweltkünstlerische Ansätze, die uns mit den unruhigen Ökologien unserer Zeit in Beziehung setzen. Corinnas künstlerischer Forschung entspringen eine Vielzahl an installativen Formaten – Keramik, Video und Klang ebenso wie performative Praktiken: Workshops und Führungen rund um herbalism. Ihre Arbeiten sind oftmals Fabulation über Folklore und die Narrative, die Gender und Natur miteinander verweben. Corinna J. Duschl studierte an der Kunsthochschule für Medien, Köln, und der Iceland Academy of the Arts, Reykjavík.

We crawl through arches of thorns into the thicket. There we sit, suckled by plants. Stories unravel around us – we grasp the threads carefully, so we don't get pricked. We weave them into a new web, from which we can only escape as a hare.

In their exhibition Through Thorns // Durch Dornen Corinna J. Duschl roams the undergrowth of misogynistic narratives surrounding milk witches, unravelling their historical entanglements and weaving new narrative strings in fragmentary works, involving video and ceramics.

Corinna J. Duschl  lives and works in Cologne. Their practice combines mediabased and environmental art approaches that engage us with the troubled ecologies of our time. Corinna’s artistic research gives rise to a variety of installation formats – ceramics, video and sound, as well as performative practices: workshops and guided tours on herbalism. Their works often involve fabulation about folklore and the narratives that intertwine gender and nature. Corinna J. Duschl studied at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne, and the Iceland
