As a contribution to the 35th anniversary of the KHM, the soundings series invites graduates from the time of professors Anthony Moore and Peter Kiefer and from the period since 2015 to participate in the winter semester 25/26. Sound was part of the KHM's curriculum from very early on. So it is not surprising that a whole series of renowned artists have emerged from it in the meantime.
Threads of Decay, Spikes of Reverie is a transmedia performance that weaves sound, image, and gesture with the remains of a San Pedro cactus, which has been transformed into a monochord instrument altar. Through live improvisation, diffusion models, and cyclical rituals of growth and decay, the work connects plant, body, and algorithm in an intimate dialogue about transformation and reciprocity.
In real time, Axel Pulgar and Rihards Vitols (Arkin University of Creative Arts and Design) explore the changing relationship between sound and image through communication, collision, and transformation. Between tension, contrast, and brief harmonies, a rusted steel server becomes a
third voice. The result is a performance that defies control and embraces chance as its driving force.
Die Reihe soundings wird von Lehrenden des künstlerischen Schwerpunkts Sound konzipiert und kuratiert. Das sind Prof. hans w. koch, Prof. Tina Tonagel sowie Dr. Tobias Hartmann.
