This seminar functions as a foundational laboratory for expanding contemporary stage art both technologically and conceptually. Participants will work hands-on with real-time content engines for digital stage creation, analog special effects and mechanical performance technologies, stage audio and spatial design, AI-assisted creative methods, and performance and directing practices. Through these interdisciplinary tools and approaches, the seminar explores how traditional theatrical forms can be reconfigured within the context of media art and contemporary artistic production. The goal is to investigate how technology can recombine and extend narrative, body, and space across the boundaries of stage art and media art.
Rather than focusing solely on technical training, the seminar emphasizes how various devices, tools, and media reshape the perceptual structure of performance. Short experimental projects will connect conceptual ideas to practical creation. In addition, directors, stage technicians, media artists, and engineers active in Germany and the global performance scene will be invited to share insight into professional workflows, problem-solving strategies, and current developments in the field. Through this process, participants will cultivate the technical competencies, critical thinking, and integrated creative skills required in contemporary performance making.
