Seminar description

In winter 2024 the Live/Art seminar continues collectively reading and interrogating dramatic texts together as a way of reflecting on contemporary themes and historical theatrical traditions. Over the course of the semester we will also explore directorial and performative exercises using scenes and excerpts to illustrate interpretative approaches and look at the role of the camera in live work, and the influence of pop culture in performative settings.

In Dramarama we will be looking at significant texts and excerpts from plays written by

Kae Tempest, René Pollesch, Caryl Churchill, Sophocles.

Field Trips and Excursions:

There will be weekly trips to exhibitions and live performances (performance, dance, theatre, exhibitions, concerts).

Reading List:

Caryl Churchill - Cloud Nine

Kae Tempest - Paradise

Sophocles - Antigone

René Pollesch - 24 Hours Are Not A Day
