Seminar description

Since 2007, ‘urban stage/public space’ has been continu-ously investigating the question of urban slides and so-cio-political structures in the format of student pro-ject work in practical exercise formats. Vacancy and ar-chitectural agglomeration, non-sites and institutional frameworks are to be analyzed and re-described. Now, af-ter the regulating political change of public space, ar-tistic intervention as well as aspects of the performa-tive and scenographic will be methodically applied. Spe-cific project ideas are to be developed on the seminar platform and implemented in concrete exhibition projects and collaborations - also increasingly in urban space.

With archiv.komplex, the seminar is realizing a ‘neigh-bourly’ and permanent cooperation on the question of the artistic and political handling of current contemporary history and archives using the example of the collapse site (3 March 2009) of the city archive in Cologne.

A critical examination and on-site project development with the Campusmuseum Ruhr-University of Bochum and the students of the ‘urban stage’ seminar at the KHM - scheduled for January 2026;

We are also working on ‚wir schätzen ihre kunst‘ an on-site project and collaboration with Kunsthaus Lempertz at Neumarkt in Cologne

Discussions of individual student projects and sketches are offered on an ongoing basis - including with guests (by appointment) for portfolio reviewing and inputs on contemporary curating.
