A Practical 4-Day Workshop in Strategic Cultural Intervention
Authoritarian narratives succeed by working at the level of metaphor, emotion and worldview, while democratic responses often fail by arguing within opponents' frames. This workshop trains artists to intervene at that same depth using Culture Hack Lab methodology—combining cognitive linguistics, transformation theory, and activist practice from Guatemala to the Brazilian Amazon. Artists fighting this trend need to understand how culture installs cognitive infrastructure, and how to build decolonial alternatives that make pluralistic complexity feel emotionally compelling rather than exhausting. Artists and storytellers have always been the ones who make new worlds imaginable before they become possible. The old stories are collapsing. The question is whether new ones can grow fast enough in the cracks. Come learn to plant them.
You'll learn to map cultural trends and discourses, identify the current "Overton Window,", learn to deconstruct hidden worldviews, locate critical audiences, reframe oppressive messages, design concrete interventions using your artistic practice and voice to execute cultural hacks with the support of methodologies like the "Meme Tree" method.
We work through anarchist organizing principles: consensus decision-making, horizontal collaboration, collective reflection. Day 4 includes a field trip to a regional anarchist collective space for embodied practice.
