Betty is an interpreter and is always far away. London, Paris, Tokyo and now Bruxelles. A work nomad one calls it. But even when she is there, she stays out of reach. It was like this before, in high school and in the technoclub. To be best friends is only a perspective, a hope. „Distant friend“ describes the filmmaker’s search for a common memory. Is there one? Their friendship rests, adjusts, outlasts. Who has veered away from whom? On a journey to the past, the present shows up in the rear mirror. Inverted. Approaching each other may mean to accept a distance. A autobiographical filmessay about a friendship in flux.
