“Chellaponnu” means “lovely girl”. This movie gives silent company to the everyday life of five women – mothers and daughters – in the rural areas of India in 2011. Everyday life here is far away from the emerging cities of the country and is characterized by a deep tradition, hard physical work and a life in family structures. Being a woman, the desire to have a value in the society is omnipresent even in the smallest of huts. Rose from Germany is part of the journey. She talks about her life in the 1960s and her quest of self determination.
