Subtitle: ""Wir ficken das System!"" Year: 2017 Length: 00:06:00 Categories: Photography, photographic installation, Video Art, video work
Project type: 1. Projekt
Peters and Zky travelled to Dzifa's family's home country Ghana for a broadly conceived project. They photographed and filmed little everyday observations. In the installation, these images appear mounted on simple cardboard, partly in large scale, leaning against the walls. However, the space is dominated by a huge cardboard display, that serves as a seat, as well as holder for a big format video screen and small scale prints of further photographs. A photo of a framed family photo is hanging on the wall, equally mounted on cardboard. Dzifa is feeding a monkey in a slow-motion video. The artists adress multilayered transfers: transfers of images, concepts and goods between two countries. They also reflect on the perspective of the viewer: As a guest within the exhibition, the visitor is invited to reflect on this state with the help of different texts, supplied by the artists. The exhibition in the end performs as a model of an exhibition, examining itself. Conceptions and images are being negotiated as limited representations, waiting to be contextualized. Being a guest - in this exhbition - as a situation between insecurity, curiousity and trust, may appear simple in the first place, but it is a complex negotiation of perspective, understanding, approach and identity. This is where its political dimension unfolds.
