A group of students with diverse backgrounds gathered together and started the social room space, which is not only a physical space but a collective project, a small movement, like a wave in the shore, which is looking forward to creating strong dialogues in between us and other activists, artists, thinkers, who are also working in resistance and from a critical stance towards institutionality, structural oppressions and imperialism. We perceive education as a tool for transformation but could also be a tool for oppression. In this sense, we recognize how the hegemonic structures for art education replicate and contribute to social injustice. In this context, we would like to put in practice the possibility to create a collaborative space with a horizontal common ground. We have gathered our interests and topics which some are already taught in the school. And we would like to harvest and cultivate a garden of ideas, feelings, experiences, from another axis, maybe without one, as an encounter, a weaving together, as an un-learning experience. Some of topics that we would like to bring through guests with dialogues and practical workshops: decolonial filmmaking, abolition as practice, orientalism, community as rebellion, anti-colonial approaches to art, intersectional sound art, decolonial ecology, communal cooking, decolonial transfeminism, climate justice. We would like to produce together traces and memories from our experience throughout the Semester in different formats from a fanzine to a podcast, passing through a common pot cooking session. Whoever wants to sign up for the Seminar should come in the first session. The Seminar would be held mainly in English but we all speak different languages as well and can support each other.
