Not a Venus

Two monitors show a female body in pieces – its extremities, the head and the feet. The video installation deals with the (visual) expectations placed on the female/ feminity and questions stereotypical presentation. To the muse born from the waves my body replies with actions as a cipher of refusal and protest. A sight pure and exempt from prejudices stays difficult in regard to the female body. The (dead) marble woman as a imagery principle became an ideal in visual culture. So well reflected and so idyllically the representations of the female turn out now and then – the problem to liberate the nude from mythology remains unsolved.
