CONNECT

Thirteen oscillating steel spheres are connected to a matrix by rubber band. A bar with a magnet on each end controls the behaviour of each element. Once a sphere is connected to it, a motor is activated, causing it to vibrate until the bar detaches and connects with another sphere. Each module has its own simple logical program and there is no master program controlling the system from the outside. The sculpture, as an analogue system, forms constantly changing, non-linear patterns and physical structures: simple structure and rules that result in complex behaviour.
