""Cristina"" is the filmic portrait of 30-year-old unsuccessful singer Cristina Brust-Nusslinger. Even though her professional life is full of disillusioning experiences, she continues to be naively idealistic and keeps striving for artistic self-fulfilment. Cristina Brust-Nusslinger works in a restaurant where the waiters sing cover songs on a small stage in between serving the guests. Cristina is an outsider there. She gets into arguments with guests and colleagues. Only the chef is nice to her. Apart from working at the restaurant, Cristina lends her vocals to an advertising jingle and takes singing lessons to propel her career forward. Cristina hopes that she will be discovered and that she will then be able to live off writing and performing her music. When she gets the chance to present her own song to an audience at her work place for the first time, she is convinced that this is her chance for a career breakthrough.
