Das Avon Projekt

Alexandra Sell's The Avon Project stems from her commission by Avon Cosmetics to portray three British Avon Ladies. The project became a personal but displaced relationship with the women, lasting two years. Presented here as a video projection, the resulting artwork documents a curious relationship between the artist and her subject, one in which the latter seems to have taken control, gathering a momentum and life of its own. The Avon Project is commissioned by the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology and presented in association with the Bluecoat.
