Us humans unite two things: we are born and we will die. However, our perspective on death is highly individual, due to our experiences, believes, cultural backgrounds, and our general view on life. In this work I talked to five different people about what is so scary and yet so relevant: their own death. Photographs freeze vivid moments, death is inherent to them. The analogue photography with medium format slowed the process down, so a space for reflection opened up. Just the occasional ‘click’ of the camera reminded the speaking persons of the setting: a dark photo studio. The three selected portraits per person are only proof that a conversation happened. Who wants to know what has been said must read. The interviews are shown on screen.
