Valentino returns to Montepulciano. At the foot of the hill, his bus stops. Unable to get a cab, he is forced to lug his heavy suitcase up the hill to the old town of Montepulciano, where his late grandmother's house is located. As he drags his luggage up the hill, he remembers all the summer vacations he spent with her, all her matchmaking attempts with her friends' granddaughters, and all the neighborhood feuds.
