„Desire is melancholic because the self feels distance from the world and tries to overcome that distance.“ In a 20 minute, experimental short film, the audience is being taken on a punk - dream trip through a world representing the desire of two lovers. A fairytale- like, surreal landscape presents itself to us as the world embodying the cravings and longings of these two individuals. The film poses the question of what desire actually is. On the one hand melancholic and shaped by longing, on the other side hungry and rebellious, two people step in contact with their environment, their bodies and each other. „To be ec-static literally means to have stepped outside of oneself […]” (Butler 2009: p. 38), Butler takes the idea of ecstasy beyond its relation to passion and refers to it as ""being beside oneself"" (ibid.: p. 39), also through anger or pain. According to Butler, desire for another person, passion, but also grief, loss or anger allow us to step out of the security of our physical limits - and thus - out of 'us'. It connects us with other people and allows us to become human, but also deprives us of our autonomy.
