As a contribution to the 35th anniversary of the KHM, the soundings series invites graduates from the time of professors Anthony Moore and Peter Kiefer and from the period since 2015 to participate in the winter semester 25/26. Sound was part of the KHM's curriculum from very early on. So it is not surprising that a whole series of renowned artists have emerged from it in the meantime.
Threads of Decay, Spikes of Reverie is a transmedia performance that weaves sound, image, and gesture with the remains of a San Pedro cactus, which has been transformed into a monochord instrument altar. Through live improvisation, diffusion models, and cyclical rituals of growth and decay, the work connects plant, body, and algorithm in an intimate dialogue about transformation and reciprocity.
The Therapeutic Listening Group Cologne focuses on the development and implementation of conceptual methods in the fields of sound art and electroacoustic music. In installations, performances, and concerts, the group prefers to examine, integrate, and thematically develop site-specific characteristics in its works. The group is particularly interested in the relationship between sound events, listener position, and auditory perception phenomena.
The soundings series is conceived and curated by teachers specializing in sound art. These are Prof. Hans W. Koch, Prof. Tina Tonagel, and Dr. Tobias Hartmann.
