Jedes Filmwerk hat sein eigenes Budget. Ein Projekt hat gar kein Geld, ein anderes nur wenig und wieder ein anderes vermeintlich ganz viel. Doch immer ist es zu wenig. Aber was bedeutet das für die Regie? Die Finanzierung hat immer Auswirkungen auf das Projekt und damit vor allem auf die Regiearbeit. Doch wie auch immer das Budget ausfällt, die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Regie und Produktion ist essenziell für eine faire und nachhaltige Produktion.

Anhand von Case Studies werden wir Filmwerke mit No- bis High End-Budget aus dem deutschen, europäischen und internationalen Kontext studieren und dabei ausloten, was wir von anderen Herangehens- und Denkweisen lernen können. Dies können sozialistische Bezahlmodelle, besondere Absprachen zwischen Regie und Produktion oder andere Herstellungsweisen sein. Das Seminar will sensibilisieren und gegebenenfalls zu einem Umdenken anregen.

FROM NO BUDGET TO HIGH END ist ein Produktionsseminar mit dezidierter Schnittstelle zur Regie. Gleichzeitig können die Teilnehmenden ihre eigenen Diplom- und Debütstoffe vorstellen, diskutieren und über das Semester hinweg entwickeln.

Every film has its budget. Sometimes a project has no money at all, another only a little and yet another supposedly a lot. But it's still always too little. But what does this mean for the director? The financing always has an impact on the project and therefore above all on the director's work. But whatever the budget, the collaboration between director and producer is essential for a fair and sustainable production. Using case studies and field reports, we will study film works with no- to high-end budgets from the German, European and international context and explore what we can learn from other approaches and ways of thinking for local filmmaking. These could be socialist payment models, special agreements between directors and producers or other production methods. The seminar aims to sensitise and, if necessary, encourage a rethink.

FROM NO BUDGET TO HIGH END is a production seminar with a dedicated interface to directing. At the same time, participants can present and discuss their own diploma and debut film and develop it over the course of the semester.
