Conquering the environment. Five girls from Cluj-Napoca, Romania, change their environment. The concrete walls used as backgrounds for the paintings were built during the times of the Socialist Republic of Romania and are still characteristic for parts of the city Cluj-Napoca. Each participant gets paint and brush suitable to their clothes. The environment is painted in the colours of their own clothes. The process is recorded by a video camera. The result is a series of individual portraits and actions: Every person in front of the camera shows their personality in the way he/she is painting and acting. We are always influenced by our environment, by our culture and family background but we are also free to take our own choices. In each moment we can decide which way to go and how we want to change the conditions of the world we live in.
