Für Çiçek

„For Çiçek“ is a feminist work of remembrance. An attempt to restore justice, respect, and dignity to a lost sister and aunt, and to all women who have experienced patriarchal violence and did not survive it. This experimental documentary essay explores the impact of migration, intergenerational trauma and the silence that often prevails within families. Together with her mother, the filmmaker returns to her grandmother's long-abandoned house in Turkey - a space haunted by memories and ghosts. It becomes the site of a confrontation with both familial and societal forms of violence. At the heart of the film is the story of her family, who migrated from Turkey to Germany in the 1970s as part of the so-called guest worker movement. The eldest daughter is sexually abused by a neighbour. Instead of support, she is blamed by the German justice system, trivialised in the media and isolated within her own family - until she takes her own life at a young age. Her story remains unspoken for decades, but its presence is deeply felt. Its weight is passed on to the next generations. „For Çiçek“ traces the enduring effects of racist and patriarchal violence across generations. It asks whether a language for the unspeakable can be found, and whether healing is possible.
