""It's a balancing act for me. How do I approach this topic, how do I play it?"" As an actress, Gabriele Wermeling is to face up to the history of the Grafeneck killing the history of the Grafeneck killing center. Located near Reutlingen, 10,654 people who fell under the term ""unworthy of life"" were murdered in a gas chamber here by the National Socialists in 1940. The victims came from all over Germany, as Grafeneck was part of a pilot project. It was here that the National Socialists tested systematic, industrial killing for the first time before it was later used on a large scale in Auschwitz and other camps. The film accompanies the inclusive theater group of the Theater Reutlingen over the course of two years during the creation and performance of the street theater play. At the same time, it provides deep insights into the lives of Seyyah Inal, Anne-Kathrin Killguss and Gabriele Wermeling. In dealing with the topic, the performers experience what their fate would most likely have been like around 80 years ago. Triggered by their involvement with Grafeneck, they ask themselves questions about their social recognition in the here and now, including their role in their own families. Even in their private lives, they often struggle to be ""taken seriously"". This touching documentary shows that the question of the value we place on life is more topical than ever.
