Seminar description

Because we have to face complexity, we must endure ambiguity. This sentence frames our inquiry; not as a search for clarity or correction, but as an engagement with the unfinished, the contradictory, and the structurally unresolved.

This seminar explores “wrong” not as a deficiency to be corrected, but as a generative force in aesthetic, epistemic, and political fields. From failure and glitch to ideological contradiction and moral dissonance, we will investigate how “wrongness” can interrupt normative structures, destabilize meaning, and open up new modes of thinking and making.

We will ask:

– What constitutes “wrong” within a given system — and who gets to decide?

– How does error function in science, art, and communication & in our lives?

– What are the politics of failure, and how might the “bad,” the “incorrect,” or the “off” become sites of resistance?

– How do aesthetic forms of “wrongness” — such as camp, trash, amateurism, or disintegration — unsettle conventional value systems?

- What happens when someone realizes they were wrong — and what potential lies in that moment of recognition?

Alongside works from film, media art, performance, and popular culture, we’ll explore how error and deviance operate as aesthetic strategies — not despite their wrongness, but because of it. Through personal (and painful) failed projects, mistakes, intentional failure, or epistemic disruption: we’ll focus on what happens when things fall apart, go off script and someone, quietly, asks: how did we get here?

„I’ve learned more from what broke than from what worked.“ Worship the glitch!

Participants are invited to develop their own responses: analytical, artistic, speculative. The seminar is conceived as a hybrid platform for collective reading, viewing, thinking, and making — with space for failure.
