A view of an urban ground structure. The gaps between the paving stones form a pattern that lies over the ground like a grid. The grid quakes. It pulsates with small islands of peace, where things just stay as they are. The islands move, wandering across the grid, looking for new places. The video piece “grundlos,” recorded simultaneously on three cameras mounted together, attempts to synthesise various perspectives into one view. The video material is cut together so quickly that the eye cannot differentiate the differences and construes one image. Displacements and irritations are created within the rigid rectangular structure of the recorded motif through the distortion of perspective. The space spins into circular and spiral movements. A man and a woman appear, stride across the billowing surface, apparently unaffected.
