„Boyz like us“ is a queer critique of the military, in which soldiers Kramer and Malaki are left behind by their unit in an idyllic foxhole, where they quietly wait for the enemy. However, although there’s no enemy in sight, Kramer — despite his camouflage uniform and stark military discipline — lands inevitably between the frontlines of performative identity and military-grade homophobia. Finally he pays the price in gender trouble.
