Studied at Institut für Literatur “Johannes R. Becher” in Leipzig from 1985 to 1988. Worked from 1991 as freelance author and translator, since 1994 in Duisburg. Alongside the publication of poetry collections, essays and translations, also works with text in space: audio-installations, typography, multiples and texts for public spaces and private gardens, occasionally also in collaboration with visual artists. 2013 to 2015, member of the curatorial teams “six memos for the next…” for Kunstverein Bregenz. Writer in Residence Warwick University, GB (1997); Artist in Dialog Witten/Herdecke University (2000); Max-Kade-Writer, Oberlin College, Oberlin OH (2009); Thomas-Kling poetry lecturing post at University of Bonn (2012/13); Artist in Residence, Cornell University, Ithaca NY (2013); Ernst-Jandl poetry lecturing post at University of Vienna (2016)
