Auteurismen I: Claire Denis, Lucrecia Martel, Mati Diop

Die Seminar-Reihe Auteurismen geht verschiedenen Formen nach, Autorenschaft in der meist radikal arbeitsteiligen künstlerischen Form Kino zu denken. Im ersten Teil stehen drei Autor*innen des zeitgenössischen Kinos – Claire Denis, Lucrecia Martel und Mati Diop – im Zentrum, die bei aller Unterschiedlichkeit thematische und formale Schnittmengen aufweisen. Dabei werden wir einzelne Filme der drei miteinander ins Verhältnis setzen, um die jeweilige écriture, die individuelle Form als Ausdruck einer künstlerischen Subjektivität jeder einzelnen Autorin zu erarbeiten, und zugleich – im Dialog der Filmemacherinnen miteinander – Unterschiede und Ähnlichkeiten zu denken. Dabei werden uns Fragen nach dem Körper im Kino/der Körperlichkeit des Kinos, der Gegenwart postkolonialer Realitäten sowie des female gaze im Kino beschäftigen. Ausgangspunkt aller Überlegungen und zu zeichnender Verbindungen sind die Filme selbst, ergänzt um ausgewählte Texte sowie das aktive, involvierte, kritische und leidenschaftliche Sprechen über sie.

The seminar series Auteurisms explores different ways of thinking about authorship in the artistic form of cinema, which is usually based on a radical division of labor. In the first part, we will focus on three authors of contemporary cinema - Claire Denis, Lucrecia Martel and Mati Diop - who, for all their differences, are related through thematic and formal intersections. We will relate individual films of the three to each other in order to work out the respective écriture, the individual form as an expression of an artistic subjectivity of each author, and at the same time - in the dialogue of the filmmakers with each other - to think about differences and similarities. In doing so, we will be concerned with questions of the body in cinema/the corporeality of cinema, the presence of postcolonial realities, and the female gaze in cinema. Starting point of all considerations and connections to be drawn are the films themselves, complemented by selected texts as well as the active, involved, critical and passionate speaking about them.
