In winter 2023, the Live/Art seminar continues to collectively read and interrogate dramatic texts by a number of authors from different backgrounds as a way of reflecting not only on historical and contemporary performative traditions but also on important social and political issues of our time. Over the course of the semester we will also explore directorial and performative exercises, using scenes and excerpts to illustrate various interpretative approaches, as well as looking at the role of live camera, music, and the influence of pop culture in performative settings.
In Dramarama we will be looking at significant texts and excerpts from plays written by Biyi Bandele, Howard Barker, Staceyann Chin, Caryl Churchill, Lynn Nottage and Wole Soyinka.
Field Trips and Excursions:
There will be weekly trips to exhibitions and live performances (performance, dance, theatre, exhibitions, concerts).
