Seminar description

otic.radio otic. is a student-run radio platform from KHM. otic. is a space for works that relate to the ear rather than the eye. otic. is looking for listeners. otic. is looking for broadcasters. Together, we explore and learn about the countless roles radio can play as an experimental medium in an ever-evolving technological landscape.
Radio plays / storytelling / readings / spoken word / artist talks / improvisation / discussion shows / sound art / experimental music / DJ sets / documentary pieces / field recordings / collaborative shows This semester, we aim to make the broadcast program more diverse and multi-voiced, inviting you to collectively explore, learn, and engage in a weekly seminar session. Together, we’ll delve into all the technical aspects of planning, editing, creating, streaming, and mastering a radio program. Our goal is to curate and moderate artistic works while collectively producing regular broadcast shows and/or developing a LIVE broadcast to be presented during Rundgang25.We are also planning to invite special guests from various sound-related fields for lectures and will offer you a variety of workshops and excursions. No prior knowledge is required, but a willingness to actively work as part of a team is essential. Guests: • Christian Füllgraf; Topic: Media Law, Copyright What materials can we use, and how can we integrate them into a radio show? How do we handle external materials? • Mert Öztekin from “Açık Radyo” • Bauhaus University Weimar – Chair of Experimental Radio Link to the program • Verena Hahn; OnCologne: Public Relations, Editorial Work, Curation Excursions / Workshops: We will visit Radio 674fm for a brief introduction to broadcasting technology and DubLab Radio in Cologne.
