Rimma Arslanov – Curtains and Wounds

This year's KHM Promotional Award for Women Artists goes to Tajik-born artist Rimma Arslanov (lives and works in Düsseldorf). This award, which is sponsored by the Equality of the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM), comes with prize money of 1,000 euros and a presentation at Museum Morsbroich.

Rimma Arslanov's work uniquely combines influences from Oriental, Muslim and Soviet cultures, which she integrates into contemporary modes of production. The boundaries between image, sculpture, architecture and craft cancel each other out in her fantastic visual worlds, questioning our traditional perceptions of tradition and innovation, thing and life, vulnerability and brutality.

For her exhibition at Museum Morsbroich, Rimma Arslanov will develop a site-specific presentation that will be on view in three rooms beginning October 28, 2022.

Rimma Arslanov studied "Medial Arts" at the KHM since 2018 and successfully graduated in March 2022.

The KHM Promotional Prize for Women Artists, endowed with 1,000 euros, has been awarded since 2020 in cooperation between the KHM Equality and the Museum Morsbroich. The aim of the sponsorship award is to support and network up-and-coming female artists on the threshold of the free market and to introduce them to a broad audience.

The prize jury consists of the curators of Museum Morsbroich.
