VOLTAGE! VOLTAGE!

Between April 5th and 7th, 2024[MOU1] , 13 guests from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne enter Westwerk. and turn it into a storage of shared energy. The artists accumulate sculptural, sonic, visual and literary elements into a program of ongoing performative experimentation and tension release.

Over the course of a weekend, Westwerk. is taken over by durational performances, which leave behind traces of material, non-material and immaterial nature. In the non-stop event, even a bar stool unfolds its electric potential. Thus Westwerk. becomes an autonomous power generator of exchangeable and interchangeable energies: the audience and artists switch hats of passive receivers and active givers.

‘Don't you wanna know how we keep startin' fires?’ Join us for 53 hours in sharing vulnerability, intimacy, desire, death-longing, shapeshifting and (de)formation in the live event, turning Westwerk. and its surroundings into an explosive site.
