According to statistics, most of the traumatic art experiences and the aggravation in an already existing art-related trauma happen at major art fairs and events for example: documenta, La Biennale di Venezia, Art Cologne, ... Quantity and sometimes quality of the artworks exhibited may cause extreme mental fatigue which is often intensified by phyiscal exhaustion. The enormous art information overloads the perceptual capacities: the visitor’s drive and other natural defence mechanisms are blocked by his interpretation ability. Under these circumstances, the art-perceiving sub- ject is at a very high risk of generating art-related trauma. In order to reduce the risk of mental disease, it is extremely reasonable to organise temporary therapeutic couch surgeries for treatment and prophylaxis of art-related trauma at major art events.
