Ise is derived from the Chinese numerical system and means ‘second.’ Koreans call other Koreans who live abroad Kyopos. Being Ise Kyopo means ‘being different’!? Children of 1970s Korean immigrants describe their current lives in Germany—they find themselves in transit and this transition into German society is accompanied by a confrontation with the traditions and values of Korean society.
