Rustic Airs

The dual publication consisting of an artist’s book and a record, uses the example of ‘airs’, interchangeable melodies from folk songs, that travelled around Britain and were adapted. In the search for a way of thinking that addresses mobility, transformation and plurality. In an approach that combines generative electro-acoustic composition with instrumental recordings of folk music and critical writing with travelogue, change appears in the gaps between notes and narratives, between people, between spaces and places, words, sounds and topics.
