In one of America’s most dangerous and neglected inner cities, Ivan Martinez decides to change the only life he has known. A life of drugs, prison and crime. After searching Camden, New Jersey for a drug rehabilitation program, Ivan decides to make an attempt at the only long-term rehab. available, the faith-based drug program of “My Brother’s Keeper”. Filmed over the course of 24 months the documentary explores the lack of choices available for minority drug addicts, and faith-based drug rehabilitation as an innercity response to drug addiction, poverty and urban decay. But like most traditional drug treatment programs, this relief comes with a price attached - in this case - Christian indoctrination, severe restrictions on mobility, and high rates of recidivism.
