“Anophtalmus” is a medical, poetical, and abstract term for what can be seen here: hands working in the dark over a roaring fire and glass spinning in the midst of it all. The camera follows an almost mystical process—the creation of the visible. The product is a glass eye, the depiction of its production a painful and cautionary confrontation with the viewer’s own visual perception.
