Ali (42 years old) is originally from Togo in Africa. His father taught him to work at an early age, so even as a child he helped out in the fields after school and brought home money. With this learned work ethic, Ali moves through life and emigrates to Germany in 2007. First stop: the asylum home in ,,Alpen"". As the title of the film suggests, the central theme of the documentary is not the depiction of precarious working conditions, but Ali's personal immigration story and his everyday life as a parcel delivery driver for the service provider GLS. He describes the various stages on his way to working life in Germany and reflects on his main goal: to give his family, especially his sons, a better life. Symbolically, the documentary tries to connect the past and present narrative and generates the question about future perspectives for immigrants of different generations in Germany.
